George H. Scofield, Jr., born on August 19, 1942, in Albany, California, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2025, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 53 years, Lori, and his daughter, Danielle. He was 82 years old.
Son of George Scofield, Sr. and Helen (Knoke) Scofield, George grew up in Santa Cruz, California, alongside sister, Carole, and brother, Phil. He attended Santa Cruz High School and then followed in his father’s footsteps by building a career in the automotive industry. During this time, George met and married the love of his life, Lori, and the two settled in San Jose and welcomed a daughter, Danielle.
Known for his outgoing personality and approachable manner, George brought warmth, humor, and kindness to everyone he met. When he retired, he enjoyed meeting friends for lunch in Santa Cruz, visiting with his morning coffee group in Willow Glen, and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.
George is survived by his devoted wife Lori; his daughter Danielle Short and son-in-law Michael Short; and his two beloved grandchildren, Connor and Hailey Short. He is also remembered fondly by many loving nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Heaney, and his brother, Phil Scofield.
He will be forever remembered for his love and dedication to his family, always working hard and wanting the best for them. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing him.
