Georgina Marie Duran-Goyer was born on December 16, 1969 to Olivia and Ysidro Duran in Santa Clara, CA. She grew up in Sunnyvale, CA, attending local schools and college and playing soccer. Her love for food and cooking is unrivaled, unless she was listening to some 80’s New Wave. Georgina’s telecommunications career would eventually lead her to the East Bay where she began work with Comcast. Along with a great career, she made life-long friends and met her future husband, Adam Goyer. Together they lived in San Ramon, CA with his children, Heather, Sean and Christian. Comcast would later relocate them to Fresno, CA. After a couple of years there, they were given another job opportunity which would take them across the country to Florida. They built a home in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL., where they created a tight-knit community of friends. Georgina volunteered and later worked for SunServe, a local LGBTQIA community non-profit organization that provides critical life assistance and professional mental health services with an emphasis on economically disadvantaged, marginalized youth, adults and seniors in the greater South Florida metropolitan area. She absolutely loved the work she did there, the people she was able to help, and the friends that would become like family. She also made frequent trips back out to California to visit her family and friends. No matter where she was, you could catch her cheering on her favorite Bay Area teams - the Warriors, A’s, Sharks, and 49ers. Georgina and Adam loved to travel to beautiful, tropical places all over the Caribbean, her favorite being Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Together, they built their dream retirement home in Playa del Carmen where she enjoyed being the “Hostess with the Mostest,” cooking and entertaining her many visitors. She also continued to work remotely for a therapist in private practice. While at their home in Mexico, Georgina became unexpectedly ill. Georgina passed on November 13 2021, in Playa de Carmen, Mexico.
Georgina was an amazing and thoughtful daughter, sister, wife, and doggy mom to Osito. She was Auntie Gina to her nephews Matias and Javier, nieces Micaela, Liliana, Sydney, and Lucia. She was also godmother, a.k.a. “Nina Gina” to Micaela. Georgina was also stepmom to Heather, Sean, and Christian Goyer. She was loving her recent promotion to “Glam-ma” of Jaxson, son of Heather.
She is survived by parents, Ysidro Jr. and Olivia Duran (Clovis, CA), brothers Ysidro Duran III and Robert Barrick (Fresno, CA), Mia Duran Castillo and Rita Duran-Fujii (San Jose, CA), husband Adam Goyer (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), six nieces and nephews, three stepchildren, one grandbaby and an infinite number of friends and family.
