

Born in the Philippines in 1961, Gerry spent his childhood years in the City of Mandaluyong, Metro Manila Philippines. Gerry attended elementary and high school at Paco Catholic School in Manila. With bittersweet departure in the early 80s after obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Santo Tomas, Espana Manila, Gerry moved to San Francisco California to be with his parents and family. Gerry left behind a circle of lifelong friends in Mandaluyong with their group called “Batang Blumentritt” who remained friends from childhood to present, now eagerly await his return to pay their final respects.
Gerry’s one of the most significant career accomplishments was spent 19 years at UCT as a Level 3 Technician. He specialized in performing CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) measurements for a variety of customers. He was a key player in ensuring components met precise customer satisfactions and strict quality standards for semiconductor and aerospace industries.
Gerry is now reunited with his late parents Alfredo Sr & Marcela Manay, late brother Ramon Manay and late sister Erlinda Bulda; He is survived by his partner Vilma Gatchalian; His daughter Maryknoll and son Gerard from previous marriage; His brother Alfredo Jr and sisters Teresa and Zenaida; His nephews/nieces: Allan, Marcus & Michael B; Debbie, Louie, Issa & Alvin; Mark, Michael A & Melvin; Marizen; Jamie & Jacie; Stepchildren: James, Janine & Allan.
Gerry made an impact to his family, friends and work colleagues as diligent and cordial always willing to lend a helping hand; he was a person full of humor and wit; His closest grandchild Jericho was enamored by Gerry’s caring nature; At home, he helped tend their cactus garden, built shelves and housed the planters; He took care of Vilma especially the driving aspect of to & from work or bus stop; Gerry maintained his jovial demeanor and love for his family and friends even cracking jokes up until he can no longer communicate; Gerry was an excellent cook & always wanted to man the kitchen; Gerry’s absence will leave a void that’s hard to fill but his memories will linger on forever. It brings peace to know Gerry is free from pain and in the presence of God. We will all dearly miss you Gerry!
