

Grady Ross was born on March 2, 1939 to Lonnie and Cedalia Ross. He was the seventh child of fourteen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Ross Sr.; mother, Cedalia Ross; brothers, Otha Ross, Lonnie Ross Jr., Roger L. Ross, Sammie L. Ross; sisters, Gwendolyn Nash, Mary L. Berner, and Sandra C. Chism.
Grady completed his secondary education at Arp Industrial High School (TX). He continued his education with a B.S. degree in Math & Science from Texas College (Tyler, TX). Post graduate education included a masters degree from San Jose State University (CA) and his doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley.
He was married to JoAnn Mosley Ross from 1960-1984. Two children were born from this union, Bonetia Gayle Ross and Yolanda Antoinette Ross.
Grady confessed a love for Christ at an early age and united with El Bethel Baptist Church in Overton, Texas and later united with Destiny Christian Fellowship in Fremont, California. Dr. Grady Ross married his wife Ella, forty years ago. He transitioned to be with the Lord on April 17, 2025 with his loving, devoted wife Ella by his side.
Prior to retirement, Grady Ross was an educator, a Lockheed engineer, school administrator at Opportunities Industrialization Center West in Menlo Park, CA, and Assistant Superintendent in San Jose.
Dr. Grady Ross excelled academically. Excellence was his trademark. Grady was well known as a mentor, while providing affordable housing to San Jose State University students. He had been a piano prodigy and lent his talents to many churches from an early age. He was an auto enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling. Grady enjoyed entertaining and fellowship with his family and friends.
Dr. Grady Ross is survived by his loving family; wife, Ella Ross; daughters, Bonetia Gayle Ross and Yolanda Antoinette Ross; Grandchildren, Racquel Gene’t Valle (Edgar) and Brandon Christopher Harris; and great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Gene’t Valle and Edgar Chase Antonio Valle; brother, Calvin (Ann) Ross; sisters, Darlene Gee, Rachel Starks, Myra Upson, and Patricia (Claibon) Mallett, nieces and nephews; sister-in law, Doris J. (Ron) Kelly; brother-in-law, Hobert (Maxie)Williams, numerous friends and associates.
