Gregory Renard Fairrer was born in Detroit, Michigan at Women’s Hospital on the morning of January 4th, 1963 to Jeanette Marlynn and Charles William Fairrer at 4:30 AM. In 1968 when Greg was five, the family relocated to Palo Alto, California. Later that next year the young Fairrer family made their final move to San Jose, California and began putting down roots. Around this time Greg, along side his father discovered the Indian Guides, where Charles was able to share his love of nature with his son. Greg’s formative years began at Valley Vista Elementary where he began a love for baseball and playing outside until the streetlights came on. He later attended August Boeger Middle School where he was a charismatic, brilliant student. This is where he developed a close-knit group of friends and continued his passion for little league baseball, football, and fell in love with scary movies. At the age of 9 his father passed away and his mother, Jeanette took on the role as both mother and father.
At Mount Pleasant High School excelled as a student athlete, dominating on the football field, playing the trumpet, and pursuing his new found passion of boxing. In both sports, he received many awards, accolades and records that stand to this day. Greg was always so proud to have #1 on his jersey and loved to show it off to everyone. During this time he also would take it upon himself to “try” and be the man of the house. He was very protective of his family and especially his sisters with his clothing checks before they left the house.
Gregory graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1981 and began classes that same year at San Jose State University. He majored in Criminal Justice and played NCAA D1-A football as a cornerback.
After attending San Jose State University he joined the US Navy where he studied engineering following in his fathers footsteps. He then moved to the East Bay where he applied his craft in various trades from truck driving to computer information networking to having a custom bike business. Through these years he made a joyful impact on many and was fortunate enough to maintain lasting forever friendships.
