He was born on November 20, 1948, to Ignacio and Isabel Mendoza in Mexico City, Mexico, a place rich with life, music, and family, all of which remained at the center of who he was throughout his life.
At the age of 19, Hector immigrated to the United States with his brother Ignacio, joining their mother in San Jose, California, where he built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love.
Hector met Rosemary in a young adults church group, and a few years later, they married and built a beautiful life together. They were blessed with two daughters, Monica and Angelica, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is survived by his wife and daughters, as well as his siblings Ignacio, Felipe, Lupillo, Fernando, Jorge, Arturo, Carlos, and Marta.
A devoted husband, father, brother, nino, cousin, and friend, Hector worked for Parks and Recreation in San Jose and later for VTA (Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority), where he retired after many dedicated years of service. His strong work ethic, sense of humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Hector will be remembered for his faith, his music, his laughter, and his heart that never stopped giving. His legacy lives on in the love of his family, the memories he created, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
