

Herman Chen, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on September 9, 1947, in Tainan, Taiwan, Herman lived a life rooted in perseverance, resilience and kindness. He graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree in Accounting and spent 5 years in Guam as a controller before moving to the United States to build a future full of opportunity.
In 1977, Herman married Amy Chen and together, they shared 48 years of marriage. Since 1980, San Jose, California has been their home, though Herman also dedicated over four decades to his entrepreneurial work in agriculture in Red Bluff, California. He was a proud father to his two daughters, Charlotte Chen and Vivian Krause, and a joyful grandfather to Kendall and Jasper Krause.
Outside of work, Herman and Amy enjoyed a monthly Karoke club for 30 years. Herman also found peace and fulfillment in nature. Whether swimming in the ocean or hiking in the mountains, he was most alive when surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors. Herman will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
