In Hong, Beloved Mother, Grandmother (Yeay), Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother was born in Oddar Meanchey, Cambodia along with one older brother and one younger sister. Yeay immigrated to the United States in February 1982. She lived in Kentucky before settling in San Jose, California in 1984. Yeay had eight children, Bun Sun Kong, Sakhorn Kong, Bun Na Kong, Buntan Kong, Bunthan Kong, Mao Chan, Sophornn Hen, and Peou Kong; thirty-seven grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and four great-great children. Yeay passed peacefully at home with her daughter Sophornn and grandson Jovi who were her caregivers. She is now resting peacefully with her parents, siblings, and late sons Bun Na and Bunthan Kong.
Yeay was an avid gardener, she tended her garden daily, especially her beautifully fragrant pka chanthou. Yeay loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, which brought her so much joy and laughter. Any time she could, she would share stories of her life growing up. Yeay was full of passion and love, and she loved each of her family members fiercely and wanted everyone to love and support one another.
We will all miss her smile, joy, laughter, gentle soul, and her love. We will all cherish our wonderful memories, and we thank you for being here and helping us all remember her memory and life from this day forward and forever.
