Mrs. Jane Vivian Pflughaupt, age 89, passed away Thursday evening, July 2nd, 2020, at her residence in San Jose. She was born October 9, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Vincent and Josephine (Picone) Castagnolo. Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald Pflughaupt, the love of her life. She leaves behind two daughters Karen Durbin(Richard), and Sammi Croce(Louie); two grandchildren, Lucas Martin(Kelsey) and Megan Avery; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Ashton Martin; a sister Carmela Castagnolo; a brother Vincent Castagnolo; and many nieces and nephews who will sadly miss her. She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family, and oil painting, she was an amazing artist.
Jane spent the first 15 years of her life in Cleveland, Ohio until much to her dismay her father decided to move the family to California during a trip to visit family. At the age of 21 she met the love of her life, Donald, thanks to a double date, which she wanted to cancel but thanks to her mother insisting on good manners she went on. One month later they decided to get married and in June of 1952 they became husband and wife. They spent the next 56 years together building a cabin, raising a family, traveling the world, and making unforgettable memories until his death in August of 2008. She spent over 30 years working at Westinghouse in Sunnyvale where everyone knew and loved her.
A private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date.
