Jesus Guevara passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, Aug. 16th, he was 98. Born in Mexico on Dec 19th, 1919, he came to Santa Clara County in 1962, but always remembered where he came from. He would visit his home country as often as he could to see family and for the love of his Mexican heritage. Jesus was a hardworking man and worked for Del Monte for almost three decades where he gave them 26 years of service.
Enjoying such a long life, Jesus believed in the value and importance of family. Immediate family or extended family they all meant the same to him and his “family” grew over the years. He leaves behind his life partner and companion of 24 years. He is preceded in death by 4 children and survived by 9 additional children, 42 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 27 great- great grandchildren and a great number of others he loved as his own.
Jesus was a humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being outdoors, working in the yard and growing delicious vegetables by tending to his garden; he definitely had a green thumb. He enjoyed doing DIY home projects and was a jack of all trades. He was also a frugal man who was kind to the earth; he was always recycling everything he could. He liked to keep things neat and tidy, and loved shopping at the second hand stores looking for that one special discounted item.
Jesus will be fondly remembered by all that he touched as a loving, caring and kind man. He had that special gift to be known and liked by all; he had a contagious smile and unselfish willingness to give a helping hand. From those close by, to the many that are miles away, he carved his name on many hearts; friends and family alike. It was a privilege to know him and have him in our lives for as long as we did. He leaves us his legacy of character and all the hearts he touched!
