

John da Rocha Dias passed away at the age of 90. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a remarkable man who was known for his warm smile, and the pride he took in his family.
John was born in Porto Judeu, Terceira, Acores, and immigrated to the USA from Brazil in 1974. He worked hard as a mechanic at the US Air Force Base in Terceira, butcher shop owner in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and a materials handler at Hewlett Packard, where he retired after 20 years of service. John enjoyed spending time with his family camping, barbequing, and celebrating holidays and birthdays. His favorite thing to do was to gather his family at home over a huge meal. He was also a proud member of Sociedade Filarmonica Nova Alianca.
John is survived by his adoring wife, Nilza; devoted children Cidalia Azevedo (John) of Gilroy, Lina Aguilar (Gabe) of San Jose, John Carlos Dias (Sara) of Australia, Roberta Dias of San Jose, Marina Maciel (Paulo) of San Jose, Danny Dias (Silvia) of Milpitas, fifteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his eldest son, Paulino Roberto Dias of Porto Judeu. His vivacious laughter, gentle spirit, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends and Family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 from 1-5 pm at Willow Glen Funeral Home, followed by memorial services at Five Wounds Church in San Jose. Viewing at the church will be from 6-7 pm, Rosary at 7 pm, and Mass at 7:15 pm. Burial will take place Friday, Feb. 28,2020 at 1 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose.
