John H. Ford went home to be with the Lord and to join his beloved wife, Lola, on June 8, 2012. He was a native of California born in San Francisco on January 23, 1924. He is survived by his children, Jack, Denny, and Nancy;
8 grandchildren, Jeff, Greg, Mike, Mark, Karen, Katy, Bryan, and Michelle; and 17 great-grandchildren. John was a wonderful example to his children and grandchildren of what it meant to be God's servant as he faithfully served the Lord for more than 60 years at Willow Glen Baptist Church in San Jose.
John was very proud of his service to the Country in World War II and in the Army Reserve until 1984 when retired as a Sergeant Major. He always quipped, "It was my way or the highway." John worked as a Sheet Metal Journeyman and joined Local 104 Sheet Metal Workers Union in 1946. He was also an active member in the San Jose and Fremont Elks Lodges and the American Legion.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, June 16, at Willow Glen Baptist Church, 1292 Minnesota Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125.
A Reception will follow at church.
