After a courageous 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer, Joe passed away at home with his loving family by his side. Joe was born to Domingos and Gilda Correia on the Island of Sao͂ Miguel, Azores. Domingos and Gilda with their six children, daughters Lourdes and Leonilde and sons Joe, Gabriel, Domingos and David immigrated to America in 1966, arriving in Boston and eventually making their way to California. Joe was raised Catholic and often spoke about the various religious events, pilgrimages and traditions that he and his siblings would participate in growing up. He took great pride in his faith, family and Portuguese heritage. A trip home in 2014 brought so much joy to Joe as he was able to show his family the church where he was baptized and all the beautiful sites of Sao͂ Miguel.
After various occupations, Joe settled on the machinist trade eventually starting his own company in Santa Clara, CA. JC Machining was established in 1980 and is still going strong today.
Joe loved the ocean and on his many trips to Maui, you could always find him wading in the surf. He loved camping, golf, poker and playing Aggravation with family. He enjoyed entertaining and always made sure that you had enough to eat or drink with a “have some more” or “do you want a drink?” Joe’s outlook on life was always positive. Whatever curve that life threw his way it was only a “minor problem”. He dealt with his diagnosis the same way and was determined to live life to the fullest until the end. He was known to everyone he met to be honest, generous and kind. He never passed judgement and was always there to help those in need.
Joe’s greatest love was his family. He showered every one of us with love and you could always turn to him with any problem. He was very proud of the successful lives of his three sons; Albert and Jesse, whom he had with former wife Gail Hayzlett and Zachary who he had with Leanne.
Joe leaves behind his beloved soulmate, Leanne Seavers, son Albert, his wife Lana and grandsons Tyler and Ryan, son Jesse, his wife Melody and grandson William, son Zachary and his fiancée Gabrielle Grace (G.G.) Bettencourt. He will be dearly missed by his large family, numerous friends and business associates.
