Joseph Ray Hernandez, Sr., passed away on March 10, 2021 at the age of 93. He was a native of San Jose, California. After graduating high school, Joseph entered the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II, and a live fire veteran of the Korean War, earning the distinguished Purple Heart medal.
He is survived by his loving children; Joseph (Carol) Hernandez, Rick Hernandez, Cathy (Carlos) Silva, Frank (Estella) Hernandez, and Birdie Ibarra. He was a proud Grandfather of 24 and blessed by his 23 Great-Grandchildren. He will be missed by his devoted Sister Carmen Juarez, Nephew Louie Juarez and his faithful companion Alex, his African Grey Parrot.
All services will be held indoors at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose. On Thursday, March 25, a visitation will be held from 12pm - 4pm, with a Rosary at 1:00pm. On Friday, March 26, visitation begins at 11:30am, funeral service at 12:30pm. Burial to follow at 2:00pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose.
