Joseph C. Lopez, son of the late Antonio and Carmen Lopez, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Born on July 13, 1934, in Merced California. Joseph was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. He and his brother Raymond Lopez were known as “Los Pollitos” of the family (the baby chicks). Joe married Alicia in 1975 and had 4 children.
Close friends and family knew him as “Papa Joe”. He took an active role in the lives of his grandchildren by attending many Little League baseball games, performances, school pickups and drop-offs, always sharing advice on life skills, and caring for others. His passion was to learn all about WWll, taking long family road trips to Disneyland, Reno, Ensenada, Mexico, and camping trips. He also enjoyed watching football on Sundays. Papa Joe was always there to support his children in times of need.
With his influence, his children grew a love for the San Francisco Giants, and it was always a treat to go to Candlestick Park and watch baseball games. He will always be remembered as a caring man who enjoyed bringing happiness to his family, coming together as a family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Joe is survived by his partner, Alicia, children, Mark, Mike and Nancy. His grandchildren, Brianda, Brenda, Joey and Alana. Brother-in-Law, Lorenzo. And his Best Friend, Liam. Papa Joe joined his daughter Brenda in heaven.
A Memorial Mass for Joseph Cervantes Lopez for Joseph will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 325 Willow St, San Jose, CA 95110.
