She and Dad had so many friends and family that my weekends were always busy! See mom’s family on Saturday and Dad’s family on Sunday!  
And the Guadalupe Society for even more friends! So much to do for school during the week! Gardening with Dad on Saturday mornings. And she taught catechism to a bunch of St Lawrence students …

So many beautiful memories with Tia Josie and the Jimenez familia. She was fun  loved to dance and sing.  We had many birthday, Xmas Celebrations and she always made us laugh. Rest in peace Tia you can now be with your husband  Tio Mike  sisters, brothers and parents who are waiting in heaven for you!!!

My mother, Juanita Jimenez Gutierrez, was my Tia Josie's half-sister.  She was one of six siblings (Aurelio, Jesus, Maria, Natalia and Herminia) born to Papa Jose and Grandma Jacoba Jimenez in Mexico.  After the passing of Grandma Jacoba in 1918 Papa Jose married Grandma Antonia.  Their union added seven more children (Ralph, Delia, Susan, Ofelia, Josie, Pepe and Rosemary) to the family.  All the older siblings settled primarily in southern California and the younger siblings settled in San Jose.  Though separated by distance, over the years the families remained relatively close with frequent visits up and down the coast.  The families grew larger as children were born, producing many cousins, nieces and nephews.  And all of them, including my sister Carmen and I, benefited from the love and nurturing from all our aunts and uncles.  They showed us the immeasurable importance of family and that included, of course, Tia Josie.
Tia Josie was a strong and outspoken lady.  Some may say blunt or without filter but her intentions were always good and loving and sincere.  So she showed us strength with empathy and compassion.  She loved deeply and lived life fully with Uncke Mike and Joey and family and friends.  So she taught us to love and enjoy life but to share that joy with loved ones.  Who can forget her very recognizable and infectious laugh at every party or event!  Her Catholic faith was at the center of her life and she strongly encouraged, by word and example, to embrace God in our daily lives (or else!).  She touched many lives in her own special way and I'm grateful for the legacy of love and kindness that she left us and I'm sure her essence will live on in the imprints she made in our hearts! Dear Joey, George and the Jimenez's families, both sides.  I am so sorry for your loss, and the passing of Aunt Josie.  The Wardlaw family, Bill, Kim, Billy and Katie, and the McLane family, Myrna, David, Katie, Emily and Julianne, are praying for you and grieve for you at this time of your great loss.  Aunt Josie was my godmother, along with Uncle Mike.  They took their godparents' role seriously, and made sure I got confirmed at their church.  They remembered my birthday each year, something I will never forget. I got my favorite baseball mitt from them.  Aunt Josie and Uncle Mike loved and cared for their families, and would always be there if you needed help.  Aunt Josie had a lot of spirit and energy, and she was honest, smart and was tough.  She had a big heart.  She would let you know what she thought, but there was always love behind her messages.  I know she loved Joey and George so much - - her sons.  She loved Uncle Mike, and I am happy they will join each other in heaven.  She lived a long and fulfilling life, and she will be remembered.  Love, David McLane.

The laughter and the joy is what we remember most.  She wasn't just Tia to her nieces and nephews but she was also "Tia Josie" to my wife Lora's family.  She holds a special place in their hearts with affection and love.

Our Nina/Tia Josie passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday morning at the age of 95. Josefina Lourdes Jimenez, my mom’s sister, was a strong influence throughout our lives. She treated us like her own, and only had the best intentions for us. She was there throughout our mom’s sickness and in life after our mom’s passing almost 20 years ago. She was such an important part of our lives and a beautiful connection to our mom. Now, she will be reunited with her baby sister who she missed so deeply. We will always love you, Nina/Tia Josie.

It is with sadness that I send this message regarding the passing of our Tia Josie (Josefina) Jimenez last week at the age of 95; if I have this right, she was the 5th of seven siblings with my dad being the 6th. She was one of 5 girls. She was the guera (fair) of the familia, beautiful like the rest of the Jimenez ladies. We have great memories spending Christmases and birthdays with our tias. She married Tio Mike who was also a Jimenez so she didn’t have to change her last name. She is survived by my dad (93), my Tia Susie (97) and her son Joey. May she rest in peace and join my tio dancing and watching the 49ers In heaven and spend time with her siblings Tio Ralph, Tia Delia, my Nina Ofelia, and their younger sister Tia Rosa and my grandfather Jose and grandmother Antonia. They will have one big reunion. Here are some old pictures of the siblings.

To the family of Josie , our deepest condolences on behalf of myself and family. Met Josie, with the Guadalupe Society and connected with her right away, she use to call me her Barbie. She use to love to dance, sing and was very helpful with the society function and anyone else that needed her help. Also was very involved in the church, we moved to Fresno in 2000 but were still involved with the Guadalupe society. And able to see Josie when we were in town but later heard she was deteriorating and had to move out of her home where she lived with her son. We were lucky to visit with her before she moved out of her house, and she just couldn’t stop wanting to give us some kind of gift from her collection of her knickknacks.  So I expect one but that wasn’t good enough for her, she gave me one for my daughter & granddaughter. Even then when she couldn’t remember some of the things,  she remembered my daughter n granddaughter. So we loved Josie so much n will always remember her for the loving person and memories she left behind.
