There are so many great ways to describe my Dad, with his sense of humor being one of my favorites. He always found a way to make us laugh and bring joy into everyday moments. 

No matter how old we got, our parents always saw us as kids and looked after us. Before we left the house, my Dad would always reverse the car and watch the road to make sure we left safely. One day, I let him know that I was heading out to meet my friends. As I walked to the garage, I found the car reversed - as he always did. I slowly pulled out of the driveway and suddenly heard popping sounds, so I stopped the car and looked around. I quickly noticed bubble wrap taped to the ground and heard laughter coming from the front window. I looked up to see my Dad peeking from behind the curtains. I playfully yelled at him and to this day, I can still see the huge smile on his face. This was just one of the many silly memories that I’ll always hold dear. 

This past year has been a strenuous journey for him and the most difficult time for all of us, losing loved ones that we haven’t yet fully processed. Despite the endless doctor visits, my Dad remained strong and positive. It was easy for him to put others first, from checking in on us to make sure that we were alright to asking his nurses and doctors how they were doing. That was just his nature - he always taught us to treat everyone with kindness and gratitude, something I’ve always admired and learned to uphold. 

Papa... you will always be one of our greatest blessings. We are truly lucky to have a father with such a kind soul. You’ve taught us so many valuable lessons that we’ll never forget. We’ll continue to make you proud - and don’t worry, we’ll take care of one other. I hope that you’re watching down on us. I can imagine you hugging Lolo Vic, Mamang, and Lola in a great reunion, sharing moments with Auntie Merlie over delicious Filipino food, and strumming the guitar while singing with Tito Harry.

We love you so much, Papa.

My dad is my best friend.

He is easily the biggest influence in my life.

When I think of my Dad, I'm reminded by his humble, playful, and selfless personality. He was always putting others first, before thinking about himself.

He taught me how important it is to have an open mind with others.

He taught me that being kind and respectful to everyone you meet goes a very long way.

And he taught me that it's okay to be wrong.

He taught me so many lessons through his actions and how he carried himself.

My Dad introduced me to so many different things as early as I can remember. He shaped my childhood with his own interests, especially with music and video games. Things to this day that I love and always look forward to.

I want to thank my Dad. I can’t thank you enough for the love you showed us every day. You brightened our lives and motivated us to be the best versions of ourselves. You made us smile and laugh. You picked us up when we would fall, and lifted us on your shoulders.

You are a blessing to our lives; The most humble and kindest human being I will ever meet in my life. You are my role model, my hero, and my best friend. I am honored and proud to be your son. I hope that when it's my time to join you in heaven, I would have left this world knowing I could share half of the love you gave to your family, friends, and the people around you.

You will be missed by everyone Papa. We will celebrate and appreciate your life everyday. We will continue to make you proud down here, while you watch us from above.

You are the best Dad we could ever ask for. Thank you Papa, we love you so much and miss you everyday.
