Karin Elizabeth Winnard

Karin WinnardApr. 23, 1956 - Sept. 1, 2016 Resident of San Jose Karin Winnard, age 60, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family following a recurrence of breast cancer. Karin grew up in Lexington, MA. She is survived by friends and family, brothers Keith (Berkeley, CA) and Kim (Lorton, VA) and her dog, Olive. Karin received her BA in Environmental Psychology from Connecticut College, and a MA in Social Ecology from University of California, Irvine. She worked for five years in law enforcement, then subsequently dedicated her 30-year career to developing tutoring programs for college students at UC Irvine, Sonoma State University, Newbury College, and Bryant University. For the past 8 years, she served as Assistant Director for Tutorial Programs and Student Development at San Jose State University. A celebration of Karin's life will be held at SJSU Chapel on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 pm.
