Kenneth "Ky" Xuan Nguyen passed away from causes incident to age, March 31, 2024, in San Jose, CA. He was born April 21, 1938, to father [Nguyen Xuan Cam] and mother [Nguyen Thi Ven} in Tra Giang, Phu My, Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam. Ky married Tran Thi Lo, June 24, 1966, in Tam Binh, Gia Binh Province (near Sai Gon). Vietnam. 2 children were born: daughter- Nguyen Xuan Dao [May 15, 1967, in Kon Tum, Kontum Province] followed by son- Nguyen Xuan Dong [December 22, 1968, in Thanh Gia, Qui Nhon, Binh Dinh Province]. Ky drove a supply truck for the U.S. Army & was gravely injured by a bomb planted on a passenger train. In April 1975, as the Americans withdrew from Saigon, Ky followed -- his motorbike stolen at gunpoint. He carried his son to the Mekong River docks where he climbed onto a boat overloaded with panicked refugees. He (& his son) eventually arrived at Camp Pendleton, CA. Ky found refuge in Salt Lake City, Utah, working at Cummins Diesel. Dao (age 12) followed, hidden on a fishing boat until she landed on Bidong Island, Maylasia. Ky escaped cold weather by moving to Echo Park, L.A., then to San Jose, CA, where he remained until his passing. Survived by Don Clark {Christy), Dao Wahlen (Tom), 5 grandchildren: Evan Clark (Amanda); Ethan Clark; Suzanne Clark; Jack Wahlen; & Liz Wahlen; plus 2 great-grandchildren: Halston Clark & Baylor Clark. And his long time friend Miss Lan. Burial in Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose, CA.
