Mrs. Laura J Ballard

The funeral service will be held at 10am on August 28, 2020 at Oak Hill Funeral Home in San Jose, CA. Associate Pastor, Ryan Wright, of Bethel Church will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Amanda Proctor, Laura’s daughter.

Laura was born in Illinois on December 23, 1959. Her family moved to California soon after. She graduated from Leigh High School in San Jose and attended San Jose State.

Laura worked for 35 years in various administrative roles for some of the Bay Area’s most well-known construction companies: Holvick, Webcor, and Koll. At home, she fostered kittens and loved her own pets including: dogs, cats, birds and betta fish. She also enjoyed reading, her husband’s cooking, playing computer games, and ordering things off Amazon.

Laura married Jeffery Lee Ballard on January 14, 1984; they were married for 36 years. Together, they raised two children, John and Amanda, who would each go on to UC schools.

Laura is survived by her husband, Jeff, son, John, his wife Linh, daughter, Amanda, and her husband, Sean. Laura had four grandchildren at the time of her passing: Henry, Dean, Vincent, and Wesley. In September, grandson number 5 will arrive.

Laura is preceded in death by her father, Leonard, mother, Jean, and brother, Leonard Jr.
