Laurie Ann Clewett, 54, resident of Whitefish, Montana passed away December 12, 2012 at the home of her sister in San Jose, California due to complications from a long time battle with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD).
She was born in San Jose, California, March 12, 1958, the daughter of Elwyn and Ruth Clewett. Laurie attended Buchser High School in Santa Clara and graduated Evergreen Community College Nursing School in San Jose where she received her degree in nursing.
She spent her working career at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara and Valley Medical County Hospital working as a nurse. Prior to contracting RSD, Laurie enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and working with friends to build her home in Montana. In later years she grew increasingly close to God through continuous prayer and letting herself be used as His instrument of light, she became a source of great encouragement and shared her encouragement freely and without hesitation. Laurie also spent much of her time as an inventor, imagining and creating things to help the disabled maintain their independence.
Laurie loved and was loved dearly by many friends and her family. To know Laurie was to love her. She blessed everyone she met with her bright spirit and true caring and concern for all living things. She lived with a child-like faith, trust and open heart.
Laurie was blessed with 1 daughter, Mandy Clewett. Mandy passed away in the summer of 1987 at the age of 10. Laurie was survived by 2 brothers, Michael (Kathy), Patrick (Michell), a sister, Kelli (Tom) Smith, 8 nieces and nephews, 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 26th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Chapel of Roses, 300 Curtner Avenue in San Jose, California.
In keeping with Laurie’s wishes (and if you choose to do so), the family will appreciate your bringing a short “Laurie Story” or fond, lighthearted memory of her to share with those in attendance. We look forward to seeing you all once again.
