It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Sue Higashi, who passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026, at Stanford Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 77 years old.
Born on October 12, 1949, in San Mateo, California, Linda lived a life defined by devotion to family, her late husband Chester Higashi, service to others, and a generous spirit that enriched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and unwavering support will be deeply missed.
Linda was a proud graduate of Sacramento City College and built a career characterized by dedication and care for others. Throughout her working years, she was employed by Montgomery Ward, Viking Freight (later FedEx), West Valley College, and Dove Hill Elementary School, where she served as an instructional teacher's aide. Her patience, compassion, and positive influence left a lasting impression on coworkers, students, and families alike.
Family was the center of Linda's life. She took immense pride in supporting her children and could often be found cheering from the sidelines at games and competitions through San Jose CYS, the San Zebras, and numerous scholastic sports programs. Whether driving to practices, attending games, or celebrating victories both large and small, Linda's love and encouragement were a constant source of strength for her family.
Linda also expressed her love through cooking. Her homemade wonton soup became a treasured family tradition, and she delighted in gathering loved ones around the table for prime rib, crab, and memorable meals filled with laughter and conversation. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and well fed.
Linda is survived by her loving sons Reggie (Erica) Higashi, Garrett (Keo) Higashi, and Aaron Higashi (Janice Mendoza); devoted grandmother to Anthony Higashi, Austin Higashi, and Aiko Higashi. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Loida Chun, as well as many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Linda's legacy is one of unconditional love, selfless devotion, resilience, and generosity. The values she imparted, the traditions she created, and the countless acts of kindness she shared will continue to live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Davita Dialysis Eastridge, Bascom Vascular, Dr. Lopez (PCP), Dr. Matarangas (DPM), and Stanford Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Linda's final days.
Forever loved, always remembered, and deeply missed
