Former resident of San Jose, California. Recent resident of Newbury Park, California
May 17, 1927 - December 25, 2020
Louise was born to Oscar and Alice Mae Williams and named Wanda Louise Williams. She was raised in and around West Los Angeles, California close to her loving extended family. In 1951, Louise married Oliver (Ollie) Bauquier and they raised two daughters, Suzanne and Lisa. Louise and Ollie shared a deep respect for education and a desire to help improve the lives of other people. Louise earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies and a Master’s Degree in Senior Education. Louise had an impressive 33-year career serving the Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP), one of the largest programs in the state. As a teacher of U.S. citizenship, U.S. History and English as a Second Language, Louise equipped thousands of adult students from around the world to graduate from high school and/or become proud U.S. citizens. Many people credited Louise with changing the trajectory of their lives. Her intelligence, administrative skills, work ethic and love for the students enabled her to rise through several MAEP administrative positions including Principal, Coordinator and Director. She was active in Delta Kappa Gamma and The American Association of University Women (AAUW). She retired in 1989 to take care of her husband Ollie. After his death, she moved back to her roots in Southern California. She traveled extensively, spent time with her daughters and doted on her grandchildren. She enjoyed genealogy, joined PEO and participated in church activities. Louise loved to read, entertain, dance, swim, dive, shop in San Francisco and drive fast.
Louise is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Bauquier Gayda and Lisa Marie Bauquier (formerly Studley); her grandchildren (Sergey Studley [Anya], Tyler Studley [Joanna], Misha Studley, Cameron Studley, Liza Studley, Joshua Studley, Vee Studley, and De Studley); her great grandchildren Cahyra and Tobias Studley; cousin James Hawkins, and many dear friends and colleagues. Louise was preceded in death by husband Ollie Bauquier, parents Oscar Williams and Alice Mae Williams Cox, brother Leroy Williams, and sister Lois Williams Becher.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held later in 2021. If you want to be informed about that event, please text [email protected]. If you wish, you may honor Louise with a donation in her honor to Smile Train, an organization that provides corrective surgery worldwide for children with a cleft lip or palate.
