Lupe Serrano Chapa

With deep sadness, we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

Lupe Serrano was the first-born daughter of Jose and Refugio Serrano. Her younger siblings are Manuel, Joe, Carmen, and Rosa. Lupe was born in Tijuana Mexico in 1946. During her younger days, she lived in Las Banos, California then moved to Delano in 1959 where she graduated from High School.

In 1966 she moved to San Jose to go live with her Tia Cande. There she met and married the love of her life Raul, and had two wonderful children, Elisa and Danny. She graduated from San Jose State with a degree in Social Work and received a Master’s in Spanish from National Hispanic University. Lupe was a Kindergarten teacher for many years with San Jose Unified and voted Teacher of the year.

Lupe was loved by everyone that passed her way. She opened her home to exchange students, who became her friends. Lupe loved to garden, she had the most beautiful flowers. She loved traveling and visiting different countries. Lupe loved dancing, cooking, but most of all she loved her family, children, grandchildren.

Lupe is survived by her children, Elisa Chapa and Danny Chapa; and daughter-in-law, Melissa Chapa, and grandchildren Presley, Phoenix, Pharrah Chapa, and siblings, Manuel, Joe, Carmen, and Rosa.

Lupe will forever be in our hearts.

A visitation for Lupe will be held Monday, January 10, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125.

A rosary service will occur Monday, January 10, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125.

A Celebration of Life will be held after the burial on January 11, 2022 at 1pm at Pedro's Restaurant & Cantina, 3935 Freedom Circle, Santa Clara, CA 95054

A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM at Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph, 80 S Market St, San Jose, CA 95113.

A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125.
