

He was born on January 1, 1940 in Sa Dec, Vietnam to Hue Xuan Nguyen and Buom Thi Tran. After serving as a Captain in the Vietnam navy for many years, he emigrated to the United States with his wife Yen Thi Tran and three children in 1975. Shortly after arriving to California, he and his wife gave birth to their fourth child.
He worked in technology at NorTel in Santa Clara, California for most of his career. In 1996, his wife passed away. He later remarried to Phan Thi Nguyen.
His interests included spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, socializing with his friends, working out in his garage, and gardening in the yards at home. He devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to his family and supported all his children from birth through college and well beyond.
He is survived by his wife Phan Thi Nguyen; his four children: Hai Nguyen, Tiffany Nguyen with husband David Douglas, Dien Nguyen with wife ThuyLy Nguyen, and Phoenix Nguyen with husband Kevin Marshall; four grandchildren: Avery Nguyen, Alana Yee, Vincent Marshall and Joseph Marshall; and additional relatives in Vietnam and in the U.S.
