You are a dear, kind, nurturing and beautiful soul. You've made me feel welcomed and just like family... I wish I would've been able to get to know you better. ... one day I hope we meet again. Until then I know you'll be enjoying the freedom of which is limitless!

Ezekiel 25:17     Blessed is "Lydia" who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak ("Nanang/Tatang") through the valley of darkness.  For "Lydia" is truly the "Lord's" keeper.

The Vasquez Fam in Cavite are mourning for the lost of auntie Lydia, we will miss her smiling face and chinky eye when she laugh.. no dull moments wd her even in a shortest span of  time during her vacay in d Phils.. you are now in heaven wd our Tatay..Rest in peace auntie😥


-Obituary-

 

1. My sister Lydia Seriosa Alfiler left her earthly body on September 3, 2018 at the age of 74. It is with deep sorrow of her sudden passing, to see her not finishing the things she planned to do in retirement.

 

2. In 1973, she immigrated to the United States from the Philippines. She worked and lived with me and my family in Long Beach, California. Due to my military transfer of duty to San Francisco, I encouraged her to move near us in San Jose because at that time, jobs were plentiful as a result of progress created by the Electronics’ Industry. Incidentally some relatives had already settled in the area. They helped her find a job, and lived with them until she got settled. Later on she rented an apartment with some lady co-workers. During those years from the 70’s until she retired, time went so fast for her. All she did was work, work, work in the Silicon Valley.

 

3. One time, I stopped by in San Jose to visit her after my tour of duty in Alaska, I was surprised to find out she already got married to, my brother in law, Victor. I conveyed my congratulations and wish them good luck and all the happiness. However, I told her in our conversation that I am shocked and regret not being informed. I jokingly said that her marriage decision was “faster than lightning.” Her reply was “I don’t want to be left an old maid!” However, she had her marriage celebration held in the Philippines to show to our family and relatives that they have a special place in her heart on occasion like this.

 

4. After the birth of her son, Adolfo, I saw much happiness in my sister’s eyes. She was more dedicated to what she does with positive attitude but focuses her energy on work and family devotion. I hope her journey to the next life will be peaceful in reaching heaven. To quote from a prayer of St. Francis,” it is in Dying that we are born to eternal Life.” May her soul through the Mercy of God, Rest In Peace
