Margueritte Evans Howell passed away December 23, 2019, at the age of 101. She was born November 23, 1918, to Raymond and Elna (Eib) Cline. She grew up in the Willow Glen area of San Jose, living on her family’s farm picking fruit, mostly prunes. In 1937 she met David M. Evans and the two had a short courtship and eloped in Reno. They had a happy life together and raised six children. David passed away in 1973.
Margueritte loved to travel and took many trips with friends and her cousin Helen. She met and married Jim Howell in 1978 and became an avid tennis player and dancer. The two shared a desire to travel, and saw many places in the world together before Jim passed away. Her passion for exploring continued, and she traveled for many more years. She loved gardening, nature and spending time with family and friends. Even with her advanced age, she had a wonderful sense of humor and sharp wit and was fun to visit with.
She was predeceased by son Daniel and grandson David. She is survived by children Kathy, David (Elnora), Steve (Jane), Joanne (Phil), Julie (Rick) as well as 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional staff at Lincoln Glen for helping to make the last years of our mother’s life comfortable and happy.
Services with be held 10:00 a.m. January 7, 2020, at the Chapel at Lincoln Glen, 2671 Plummer Ave., San Jose, 95125 followed by burial at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
