Maria Thancy Bolanos

Maria Thancy Silvia Bolanos Martinez was born on August 29, 1955 to Miguel Antero Bolanos Freyre and Domitila Martinez Garcia. She was the thirteenth of fifteen children. Born and raised in Mexico City, she decided early in her life to become an educator. She received her Bachelors’ degree in Preschool Education with a specialization in Speech Therapy. She moved to San Jose, California when she married in July of 1980 and resided here for the remainder of her life.

Thancy was an amazing daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. The love and dedication she showed to her children and grandchildren was second to none. Her greatest joy was derived from being of service to others. Whether at home with her loved ones or at work with developmentally challenged individuals, her compassion was evident to anyone around her. Thancy’s sense of humor and storytelling were first rate and her culinary skills are legendary.

Thancy passed away on the afternoon of March 26, 2014, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Thancy is survived by her two adult children, Eder E. Camacho (Regina), Thancy Karem Gutierrez (Frank), and her beloved grandchildren, Francisco Endryck and Andrea Kathany Gutierrez. Thancy is also survived by her eight siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria Thancy Silvia Bolanos Martinez nacio el 29 de Agosto, 1955, sus padres fueron Miguel Antero Bolanos Freyre y Domitila Martinez Garcia. Ella fue la decima tercera de quince hijos. Nacio y vivio en la Ciudad de Mexico, desde chica supo que queria ser maestra. Se recibio de maestra de Educacion Preescolar y termino su licenciatura en la especialidad de trastornos de audicion y lenguaje. Se translado a San Jose, Ca. en Julio del 1980 despues de casarse y vivio aqui por el resto de su vida.

Thancy fue una hija, hermana, madre, abuelita y amiga increible. El amor y dedicacion que le mostro a sus hijos y nietos fue incondicional. Su mayor alegria derivaba de ayudar a los demas. No importaba si estaba con sus seres queridos o trabajando con individuos con discapacidades especiales, su compasion era evidente. Su sentido del humor y su facilidad por contar anecdotas eran incomparables y su don de excelente cocinar son legendarias.

Thancy murio el 26 de Marzo, 2014 en la tarde, rodeada de sus seres amados. A Thancy le sobreviven dos hijos adultos y sus esposos, Eder Camacho (Regina) y Thancy Karem Gutierrez (Frank) y sus queridos nietos, Francisco Endryck and Andrea Kathany Gutierrez. A Thancy tambien le sobreviven ocho hermanos y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas.
