Maria Clara Gacusan Cruz

Maria was born on August 12, 1943, in Balungao Pangasinan, Philippines, to Augustin and Margarita Gacusan. She spent her life devoted to her family. Maria worked as a chemical engineer for over 20 years, after migrating to California from the Philippines, where she graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Far East University in Manila, Philippines.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother of 4 grandchildren. Maria found joy in hosting family gatherings where everyone felt welcome. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals. She also enjoyed visiting Nevada casinos for fun and excitement. Maria served her hometown’s Balungao Association of America as president from 1989-1991, where she helped to coordinate gatherings with friends and family from her town.

Maria is survived by her husband, Hilario Cruz III, children, Chris Cruz (Jennifer) and Robert Cruz(Megan), and her grandchildren, Scarlett, Joaquin, Spencer, and Oliver.

A visitation & vigil will be held on March 31st, 2026 starting at 4pm, funeral service will be held on April, 1st 2026, at 12:00 PM at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose. A reception will follow to celebrate her life.

Maria will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. God Bless Her.
