Conocida cómo Mama Chuy, ella fue madre, esposa, abuelita, bisabuela, suegra, tía y amiga leal y amorosa. Mama Chuy dedicó su vida a su familia y era quien la mantenia unida. Con esa misma devoción, fue una mujer muy religiosa y devota a la Iglesia Católica;no era fuera de lo normal encontrarla rezando el rosario. Mama Chuy siempre pensaba en los demás y no se marchaba ni permitia que nadie se fuera sin antes darle su bendición. Uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos era contar historias sobre su pasado y recordara seres queridos que ya no se encontraban con nosotros en vida.
Mama Chuy era muy conocida por su platillo favorito y el que nadie sabe hacer igual de rico que ella: la birria. Su postre favorito era el pan dulce, especialmente los puerquitos. Su color favorito era el morado y su flor favorita el nardo, conocida comola vara de San José. También le encantaba ver peliculas antiguas, particularmente en las que salia Vicente Fernandez. Le gustaba contarnos que había concocido a Vicente cuando aún cantaba en los camiones de México y que al darle 20 pesos, Vicente le habíaprometido que algún día cuando fuera famoso, se lo recompensaria con 1,000 a cambio (que por cierto, Vicente todavia le debe sus 1,000 pesos). Mama Chuy es sobrevivida por sus 10 hijos: Esperanza, Celia, Lazaro, Ramiro, Adelita, José, Darío, María Guadalupe,Hilda, Marisela, 38 nietos, 47 bisnietos, sus hermanos Rosario, María, Nicolás y muchas otras personas que la querían, respetaban y admiraban mucho.
La canción que más le gustaba y por la cual siempre la recordaremos es “Cruz de Olvido.” La extrañaremos inmensamente. Descanze en paz nuestro pilar hermoso, nuestra preciosa Mama Chuy.
