Maria del Carmen Leal passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2020, at the age of 95. Maria was a long-time San Jose resident. She was born in Harlingen, Texas on November 27, 1924. She is at rest now with her husband of over 70 years, Guadalupe Leal, who passed away in June of 2016.
She is survived by her three sons, Roberto, Damian and Javier Leal, and her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Maria was an avid baseball fan and loved the S.F. Giants. She worked in a dry cleaner, and cared for and cleaned other peoples homes, but what she did for a living did not define who she was. Her legacy will always be as a Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She taught us all how to be caring and kind. She taught us how to be honest and loving. She taught us how to help those who did not have as much as we did. That is who Maria was... always thinking of others first before herself. She was loved by all who knew her. Maria will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Maria will be held Friday, October 2, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, CA 95125. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 2, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125.
