It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Maria Soledad, Ortiz, who lived a full and remarkable 98 years. She was a true matriarch of our family and her loss leaves a great void that cannot be filled. our mother was a woman of immense strength and resilience and Grace. She was born in the state of Zacatecas Mexico on April 22, 1924, she married our father, Jose Santos Ortiz Campos in 1939. They eventually relocated our family to Placerville California in the late 1950s then to San Jose California. she was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a great great grandmother and Aunt.
She was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew her her kindness, generosity and warm smile, made her a favorite, among, her community. She was known for her beautiful, singing voice, often sharing her gift with her friends at the Alma senior center. Her home is always filled with love as we gather there for many family celebrations. our mother was a treasure of wisdom and stories she loves sharing her songs and stories of when she was young growing up in Mexico. She love, gardening, crocheting, and her western movies and her game shows her legacy will live on in the countless memories she created, and the lessons she taught us.
We will miss her dearly, but take comfort and knowing that she is now reunited with our father Jose Sr. and her children that have passed before her, Benjamin Ortiz, Carolina, Ortiz, Rebecca Cazarez, Abigail Ortiz-Baldwin and all her other loved ones who have passed before her.
