Marian Jean Meaden Madu passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living Center, in San Ramon, CA at the age of 92 years old. She was known for her kindness, generosity, warm and loving energy.
Marian was born Marian Jean Meaden in Slayton, Minnesota to Charles and Victoria Meaden on June 28, 1928. She graduated from Slayton High School and attended college at the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota. After college, she worked at Slayton and Dick Insurance Agencies before moving to California in 1952. In June of 1954 she married James Madu in Modesto, California and moved to the Bay Area. Next, she worked as an Insurance Broker in Ceres, California, where she continued to work part time at the Sunnyvale Senior Center and Life’s Garden Senior Apartment complex, where she also lived.
She loved volunteer work, her exercise program, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she had potentially spent a million dollars spoiling (or would have, if she was able). She also enjoyed reading, shopping, attending services at St. Martin Catholic Church every Saturday evening and dining out with friends and family. She will be forever missed.
She had two daughters, Rae Ann and Annette Madu. She is preceded by (or reunited with) in death by her daughters Annette Kay Guild and Rae Ann Kuzinich. She is survived by four grandchildren, Chad Madu (wife Lisa), Ashley Guild, Lindsay Kuzinich and Kyle Kuzinich; six great grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Madu, Guiliana Braiser, Landon, Preston, and Charlotte Kuzinich.
Services will be held on Friday, July 24th at St. Martin Catholic Church in Sunnyvale and Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, CA. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is restricted to a small number of family and close friends.
