December 2, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan, to S.G. (Pete) and Alberta Moore. After her
father came back from serving in World War II, she grew up in Charlotte, Michigan,
along with brothers Stan and Tom.
Marion graduated in 1965 from Western Michigan University. Following her first
marriage that summer, Marion took on the life of a military spouse, living in Texas,
Michigan, Hawaii, and Florida. In the early 1970s, with her second husband, she moved
to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she spent the rest of her life.
Marion taught high school math in Texas, Michigan, Hawaii, and Florida. When she
became a resident of Alameda, and then San Jose, she held a variety of office jobs,
being placed in jobs through temporary job agencies.
Marion was creative, starting in college, where she originally majored in art before
switching to math and teaching. She knitted and quilted and did needlepoint. Much of
that was for a church group, the “Knit Wits,” members of which knitted and crocheted
items for the needy. She took artistic photos.
In later life, with several health issues, Marion believed her purpose on this earth was to
help doctors learn more, using her as their “guinea pig.”
She was a proud member of The Episcopal Church in Almaden, at one time even
working in the church’s front office and going to Sunday services until she could no
longer attend due to health issues.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Stan. She is survived by
her brother Tom Moore (Karen) of Fairview Park, Ohio; nephew Clark Moore of
Charlotte, Michigan; and niece Jenny Hinton, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
A memorial service for Marion will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2024, 2 p.m., at The
Episcopal Church in Almaden, 6581 Camden Avenue, San Jose CA 95120. There will
be a reception afterward at the church. The service will be live streamed.
As per her wishes, Marion’s remains have been cremated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Episcopal Church in
Almaden.
