Marjorie P. Kohlsaat was born August 31, 1925, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The 2nd of 4 daughters born to Dorothy and Donald Proctor, Marge grew up in Illinois, where she graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. Marge met her future husband through her church while in high school. She married Karl Kohlsaat in 1950. They began their married life in California, where Karl was stationed at Moffett Field. They had the first of their 6 children in California before returning to Illinois to live in Chicago.
A year after her husband’s untimely death in 1967, Marge loaded her 6 kids and a canary into the family station wagon and returned to California to be near family. She joined the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, in San Jose, where she remained an active member until she passed on.
Mosie, as she was known to her family, was artistic and an avid reader. She cherished her large extended family, and made everyone welcome in her home. She worked at Calico Corners and volunteered at her church’s Christian Science Reading Room and at the Willow Glen Branch Library. She passed peacefully in her home of 48 years, at the age of 90, with a book in her lap. Marjorie was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Harris; she is survived by her sisters Alice Cottle and Frances Love; her children Carolyn Bulloch, Alan Fox, and Kat, Paul, Gary, and John Kohlsaat; her 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, 2060 Cottle Ave., San Jose, CA 95125.
