Mark L. Lyons

May 6, 1955 - Nov. 16, 2015

Born In Schenectady, New York to parents Mark Francis Lyons and Molly Ann Mollahan Lyons in 1955. Move to San Jose, CA with family in 1956. Educated at St. Christopher's Elementary School, Bellarmine College Prep and DeAnza College. Married Kathi Gallup in 1975, and moved to Portand, OR. They had two sons; Kevin Michael Lyons and Steven Joseph Lyons. He moved back to San Jose in 1986 and married Melanie Rae Nielsen, becoming father to Melanie's children Josef Michael Lee and Stephanie Rae Lee. Together, Mark and Melanie had daughter Erin Renae Lyons.

Mark always had a passion for cars, spending ten years in the automotive industry. He transitioned to the pool and spa industry, training as a Spa Repair Technician. He later started his own service company, Aquatic Solutions, remaining in the industry for twenty-five years. Mark was the current and former President of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter and former Region 10 Director of the Independent Pool & Spa Service Association (IPSSA).

As a colorectal cancer survivor, Mark spent time volunteering for the American Cancer Society, United Ostomy Assoc. of America and various other cancer support groups,

He was a loyal NASCAR fan cheering for Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was also a faithful SF Giants, Niner's and SJ Sabercats supporter. While downplayed , he had an ever present enthusiasm for Disneyland.

Mark had a passion for being a grandfather and was a loving "PopPop" to his three grandchildren: Riley, Lauren and Beckett. He forged a special bond with Riley for whom he was his only father figure.

Mark is survived by wife Melanie, Parents Mark and Molly Lyons, brother Jim (and wife Kimmie) Lyons, sisters MaryAnn (and husband Vic) Lotorto and Meg (and husband Leon) Burns, sons Kevin (and wife Ruth) Lyons, Steven (and wife Kathleen) Lyons and Josef (and wife Johanna) Lee, daughters Stephanie Lee and Erin Lyons, grandchildren; Riley Lee, Lauren and Becket Lyons, Nephew; Marc & Kyle Lotorto, L.J. and Jeremy Burns.

Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, CA 95125. Funeral Mass at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 21, 2015, Holy Family Catholic Church, 4848 Pearl Ave, San Jose, CA 95136.
