

Marta Elaine Higginbotham was born on August 5, 1962 in Garden Grove, California to parents Enrique "Henry" Lopez and Mary Elizabeth Klement. She was the youngest of four siblings; Lisa, Laura and Stephen. Marta graduated from Oak Grove High School in June 1980 and went on to attend college at San Jose State University. Early in life, Marta settled on becoming a nurse and obtained a Nursing Assistant Certificate. Marta accepted a nursing position at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos where she cared for retired priests. During this time, she met her future husband, Rick. After several years of working at Sacred Heart, Marta decided she wanted to change career paths and enrolled in Sawyer Business College, obtaining a Certificate in Accounting and Office Management. This advancement in her education provided an opportunity at AMS in 1991, where she worked for 29 years with many great people. On June 26, 1993 Marta and Rick got married, vowing to be with each other through sickness and in health. They were married for 28 years. In 2003, Marta and Rick got a chance to start a family with their son, Kyle, allowing them to become loving and supportive parents. Marta enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Despite many health challenges throughout her life, Marta will always be remembered for her selflessness and constant positive attitude.
Marta is survived by her husband, Rick and son, Kyle.
