Marty was born on January 25, 1969, in Santa Clara and passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Sacramento. Marty was known for his generosity, kindness, and strong sense of leadership. He had a deep passion for coaching volleyball, sharing his love for music through DJing, attending concerts, and never missing an opportunity to root for his beloved L.A. Rams and Dodgers. Above all, Marty will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and for the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by sisters, Cheri Fujishin Contreras, Sandi Fernandez, Karen Fujishin, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and William "Aki" Soyama.
Services will be held at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, 640 N 5th Street, on May 17th at 1 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sacramento at a later date.
