I was shocked and saddened to learn of Maureen's passing. My sincerest sympathies go out to her daughter and family.

I was so saddened to hear of Maureen's passing.  My thoughts and prayers are with Nicole and all of the family.  Maureen will be missed, but fond memories of her will remain.

While I didn't know Maureen well then, I attended elementary through high schools with her and attended the same church. My vigilant mother called me today and tell me the sad news of her passing. Memories have faded since school days, but her smiling picture above reminded me. I recall her to be kind, happy, and gentle-hearted. I cannot help but be blue today and pass my deepest condolences to her family and close friends. Matt's story of Maurren as his first girlfriend was great and stirred memories as well. Rest in peace and god bless.

Maureen was my first girlfriend... way back in 4th grade at Dilworth Elementary School... Back then, the girls told the boys that they were 'going steady'... I remember Maureen taking my hand, and telling me I was hers... and it feeling really fantastic.  While the 4th grade puppy love romance fizzled that year, without her knowing it, I've mentioned Maureen as holding the 'magical first girlfriend' spot for the last 37+ years.  Honestly, not even sure she'd remember me... We didn't hang as tight friends through Miller, and Lynbrook aside from the occasional nod/smile to each other... My Mom popped me a chat this morning asking if I knew someone from the Class of '85 named Maureen... was very sad when Mom confirmed Gaynor as maiden name... my thoughts, well wishes, and condolences to the Gaynor and Wojtowicz families.  I realize I am 'totally random' to you, but, wanted you to know that I was saddened by your loss, and that Maureen will be missed... even by some dumb sappy guy that held hands with her when she was 10.  -Matt Randazzo
