Mom was effusive with praise for Mary Ann O'Connor Rodriguez, my cousin, who always found the time to visit her every time she flew in from the Philippines. Mary Ann, not only, visited her, but also, baked goodies for Mom. 

What very few people know was her penchant for weighing herself on the scale used for luggage at the airport. This thrilled her no end.

Ocean Delight was called Mommy's Kitchen because she loved dining here with family and friends, especially when the Chinese owner often greeted her warmly and was profuse with praise over her beauty and youthful looks.

What a sumptuous lunch Wally and Cherry treated Mom, Vic, and me to!

Mom gamely accompanied Vic and me around the sights of San Francisco, Carmel, and to other places worth seeing.

Mom loved to attend mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph, in downtown San Jose, after which luncheon at Spaghetti Factory was the norm.

Vic and I always looked forward to staying with you in San Jose, CA, because of your warm welcome and excellent accommodations. Thank you very much, Mom.

Your love for each other, Dad and Mom, stood the test of time. Thank you for everything. May you both enjoy eternal happiness, peace, and salvation.

Thank you for introducing us to your love for food, Mom.

I was never one to say I love you out loud, but I always said it to Lola because she said it first to me. She never forgot birthdays, names (down to the BFs/GFs of her grandkids 😅) and with no fail, would always always pray for us. She had some funny and unique quirks: she’d love when we’d bring hotel shower caps we accumulated while traveling (sadly except the last visit since no travel from covid), she’d stock up on napkins from restaurants any chance she’d get (very #AsianLola), she’d love to pop bubble wrap to relax or watch Price is Right while exercising every morning, talk about her many manliligaws when she was young, I used to pray rosary with her every 12mn but I’d fall asleep sometimes haha, and she’d find it funny when me and my sis get queasy pinching her thin wrinkly skin cause it stayed folded 🤣 lol I miss her sniff kisses and hugs and it sucks I’ll have to live a whole lifetime before I see her again. It will always feel empty coming back to San Jose without Lola. I’m so sad I can’t be at your wake and funeral 😔 I love you Lola and I’ll miss you forever. 

Although we were far away, we have always carried you close to our hearts. I will remember your smile and your joy.  
You always said goodbye saying I love you and behave yourself. 
Rest in peace dear Lola Ched.

You have given us everything a mother could ever dream of for her children — beautiful homes, trips galore, etc., but, most of all, you have shown us that we should always place God in the center of our lives and that love and unity in the family are what matters most.
