Mike was born on April 14, 1954 in San Jose, CA. After a long and difficult battle with cancer,
he passed on from this life peacefully at home on the morning of February 24, 2020.
He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park with his family gone before him.
Mike leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of forty years,
Barbara, his two sons Christopher and Jesse, his daughter-in-law Sara,
and "Papa's girls" Aralyn and Paisley. He had a quiet but strong love for his family.
He also leaves his sister Barbara Filice Deuel, the last guardian of the Filice family,
her husband Don and their son, Brian, as well as his Brother Joe's family:
Sandy, Mitchel, Bailey, and Gino.
His childhood was spent in the orchards on his family's rural land on Almaden and Malone,
playing in the dirt and making mustard green forts.
His love for engines and driving began in his teenage years with an old Jeep and mini bikes.
These evolved into bigger and better rides, like his Honda 750, several muscle cars,
and, finally, his 1969 Camaro Z28.
As an adult, he kept the simpler times in his heart by enjoying classic TV shows,
such as "Leave It to Beaver," "Lassie," and other programs of the 50's and 60's.
Mike was a formidable golfer.
As a member of the San Jose Country Club for decades,
he treasured his time out on the course—every round of golf.
It was his true joy as his friends will agree. He won his share of tournaments, awards,
and bets over the years. He will be greatly missed by his golf buddies--
The original Dawn Patrol and The Hackers.
At heaven's golf course we know his swing will be straight and true. The perfect game.
We send him off with all our favorite memories and love of the times spent together,
laughing and in merriment. We will miss him.
Family would like to thank everyone for their kinds words, the prayers, and the memories shared, during these difficult times.
