Ned Ichiro Kikuchi

In 1942, at just eight years old, Ned’s parents evacuated the family to Idaho to avoid internment during WWII. He grew up in Idaho and later graduated from Idaho State University in 1955 with a degree in pharmacy.

After college, Ned served two years in Korea as a First Lieutenant in a U.S. Army medical unit. Upon returning home, he worked as a pharmacist in Rupert, Idaho, before driving to California in 1959 with a close friend in search of new opportunities. After passing the California boards, he put down roots in Cupertino.

Ned married Mary Ueki in July 1962. Their children, Rod and Janet, were both born at Los Gatos Community Hospital, where Ned devoted 39 years of service as a pharmacist.

Following his retirement in 2002, Ned embraced his favorite pastime—golf. He could be found on the course four to six days a week, undeterred by cold or rain, and he continued playing until June of this year.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Ned was known for his kindness, generosity, easygoing nature, and enduring love of golf. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary; their children, Rod and Janet; and cherished grandchildren, Blake and Brooke. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice and Judy.
