Patrick Gregory Kintzley ("Pat") passed away at home, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Born Saturday, December 31, 1938 to Francis and Marie Kintzley in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was the eldest of 15 children. Pat grew up in a faithful Catholic family, attending Saint Joseph's Catholic School. At the age of 14, he left home to study to be a Brother at the Catholic seminary in Chicago. After graduation, Pat returned home where shortly thereafter, he met his wife of nearly 61 years, Georgia Glantz. The two moved to California with nothing. At times, sleeping in movie theatres or their car.
Pat's first jobs in California were as a surveyor and high tree climber for the City of Berkeley. He then started his own business, Pat's Tree Service. In addition, he worked for Oak Hill Cemetery for over 30 years, retiring as Superintendent. He was an expert tradesman in masonry, plumbing, electrical and landscaping. He took great pride in his work and his character was unmatched. He had passion and determination in everything he set his mind to. In his final years, he built beautiful waterfalls to honor the deceased laid to rest at cemetaries. His work ethic, strength and kindness will be his legacy.
Pat and Georgia built a beautiful life together and were blessed with 5 children. Patrice, Shelley, Karrie, Randy and Cindy. Pat had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was proud of each and everyone of them, boasting of their accomplishments and what great people they all were to anyone who would listen. Pat made everyone around him feel loved and important.
Words do not describe what an incredible man Pat was, full of life and humor even in his final days. Nor do they describe how much he loved and was loved by his family. He will be terribly missed everyday, taking a piece of us all with him. We will always carry his memory in our hearts. The world will be missing a great man.
Until we meet again.
Funeral arrangements have been made for February 11, at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park in San Jose, where close family and friends will lay him to rest.
