Raul Muñoz, Sr was a native of Roma, Texas, a proud Texan, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather & great-grandfather whose life was defined by hard work, kindness, and an unconditional love for his family.
In June of 1955, he married the love of his life, our mother, Maria E. Muñoz. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, memories, and family. Their journey brought them from their Texas roots to San Jose, California, where they made a home and raised their five children: Maria, Raul Jr. (deceased), Gisela, Belinda, and Glenda. His love also extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him so much pride and joy.
Our father was a hardworking man who dedicated 25 years of service to San Jose State University before retiring. He worked hard to provide for his family, and his dedication and sacrifices will never be forgotten. Although life brought him to California, Texas always remained in his heart and soul. His roots ran deep, and his love for his hometown, his family in Texas, his nieces and nephews, and the cherished memories made at the Muñoz Ranch were a part of who he was.
If you knew our father, you know how much he loved to dance and listen to Tejano music. Music had such a special place in his heart, and dancing was one of the ways he expressed his joyful spirit. He enjoyed dressing up for Halloween, making memories with those around him, and sitting right alongside his daughters at the casino. These were the simple moments that made him happy, and they are the memories we will treasure forever.
Above all, our father was a kindhearted, caring, and loving man. He had a spirit that could light up a room, and a heart that always made space for the people he loved. His presence was a gift to his family, and the lessons he taught us through his hard work, his laughter, and his love will continue to guide us throughout our lives.
Today, as we say our goodbyes, we do with heavy hearts, but also with gratitude for the years and the memories, and the love he gave us. Though we can no longer hold his hand, hear his voice, or watch him dance, a part of him will always remain with us. We will hear him in the music, feel him in the breeze, and remember him every time we gather as a family.
Dad, your journey here may have come to an end, but your love will never leave us. You will forever live in our hearts, in our stories, in our traditions, and in every memory we carry forward. We will continue to honor you by loving one another, staying connected as a family, and remembering the man who gave us so much.
Until we meet again, May you rest peacefully. Keep dancing, Dad. Your music will never stop playing in our hearts. We love you, We miss you, and We will carry your love with us forever, every step of the way.
Besitos, your daughters
