Rebecca "Moms" Ruano passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 18, 2026, at the age of 96. Rebecca was born on October 9, 1929, in Santa Paula, California, to Agustine and Bersabe (Levario) Camarillo.
After her father's untimely death, Rebecca moved to San Jose, California, with her mother and two sisters in the early 1940s. She attended Roosevelt Junior High School and San Jose High School.
As a young woman, she married Manuel Luna, and together they welcomed three daughters: Norma, Orlena, and Sally. In a later chapter in her life, she found love again and married Juan Ruano, with whom she shared many happy years. Together, they built a home in San Jose, where she remained for the rest of her life.
Rebecca dedicated her entire professional career to the semiconductor industry, working steadily until her retirement.
Outside of work, Rebecca enjoyed camping, traveling to her hometown of Santa Paula to visit cousins and extended family, and hosting holiday gatherings and celebrations. She was especially known for her Christmas tamales, each one carefully folded with a single black olive inside.
Rebecca was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and faithfully cheered on her team through many memorable seasons. Rebecca also loved trips to Lake Tahoe where she seemed to enjoy a streak of luck that rarely let her down. It wasn't unusual for her to return home with more money in her pockets than when she left.
A talented and creative woman, Rebecca loved knitting and sewing baby quilts for her grandchildren, welcoming each new baby with a handmade gift crafted with care.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Ruano, and her sisters, Tabitha "Vita" Freitas and Leah Camarillo. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Luna, Orlena Luna-Gonzales, and Sally Luna Morales, as well as three generations of descendants.
