Born on November 14, 1982 in San Jose, California to her loving parents—Jesus and Lupe Salazar. Reyna grew up in a loving family alongside her younger brother, Alec.
Reyna graduated from San Jose State University in 2007 with Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies. Her passion for the youth led her to a fulfilling career as a Case Manager and Training Manager at Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY). Where she devoted over 13 years in unlocking the youth’s potential and seeking FLY talent.
In 2010 Reyna’s life blossomed further when she married the love of her life, her soulmate—Jesus Martinez (Buddy) in a beautiful ceremony on the island of Maui. Reyna adored her Kip (Buddy)—he was her best friend, her foundation, her everything. They loved traveling all over the world together, from Europe to watching their favorite sports teams play at stadiums. Most of all, they enjoyed going to local beaches with their doggies to watch sunsets.
Her love for the red road, connecting to her ancestors, and preserving indigenous culture with the community of Calpulli Tonalehqueh held steadily strong for Reyna through dance and prayer.
Remembered for her unique ability to light up any room, selflessness, generosity, big heart, bright smile, infectious laughter, jokester and prankster ways, sense of humor, ability to always see the good out of any situation, and her love for animals were a true testament of the bright light she brought into this world. All your loves ones will forever keep you spirit and memory alive Rain.
Reyna is survived by her loving husband, Buddy, and animals: LeRoy, Leila, and Shifu
