Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Roberto Sapien Sr., passed away in his sleep on April 16, 2022 at the age of 81 after a courageous three-year battle with ALS. He dedicated his life to his family and his trade, working as a tool and die maker for 40 years.

Roberto moved to San Jose, CA from his home town of Canutillo, TX in 1961 and was married to Hermelinda in September, 1962. He leaves behind his wife Hermelinda; daughter, Corina Heiser and son-in-law Richard, and son, Robert Sapien Jr., and daughter-in-law Denise; grandchildren, Cynthia, Bobby, Eric, Andy, and Gabbi; and great grandson, Alfredo III. His parents, Florencio and Arsenia Sapien, and brothers Carlos and Armando preceded him in death.

Roberto will be honored in a celebration of life at a viewing and memorial event on Thursday, May 5th from 5-8 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125; testimonial accounts will be shared from 7-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held in Roberto’s honor on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph, 80 S Market St, San Jose, CA 95113 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a small private reception for family members after the mass, by invitation only please.
