Romeo met his beloved wife, Estrella, in high school. Their relationship began in college, and they were married on August 5, 1959. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mapúa University. In 1975, he emigrated from Quezon City, Philippines to the United States with his wife and children. Their journey brought them briefly to Hawaii, then to Denver, Colorado for two years, then to Fresno, California for one summer, before relocating to San Jose, California. He maintained a successful career as a Senior Design Engineer with Schlumberger Technologies until his retirement. Romeo and Estrella finally settled into retirement in Tracy, California, where he lived for the remainder of his life.
Romeo was the respected patriarch of his family. He was a humble and loving leader, husband, friend, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His humor and presence were radiant and deeply felt in every space he occupied—marked by a kind smile and quick wit. Through both his character and his actions, his family experienced only love, light, and happiness. He set a powerful example of how to lead a family with consistency, compassion, and integrity. Fishing was his greatest passion, which was a reflection of his peaceful nature and quiet patience.
Romeo stated that the key to a lasting and loving marriage was perseverance, patience, and truthfulness. These were characteristics that he embodied and exhibited unwaveringly throughout his 66 years of marriage and his 89 full and meaningful years of life. Grandpa, you are the heart and foundation of four generations of our family. Thank you for every sacrifice you made to create a life filled with love and cherished memories for your family.
