Rosita Manuel Raras Kahn was born in Monterey County, California on August 1st, 1933 to Eugenia and Clemente Raras. She passed away on July 29th, 2025. Rose is survived by her eldest brother Raymond Raras Sr., her children Debbie Phalan, Daryl Kahn and Diane Zertuche, son-in-law, David Phalan, daughter-in-law, Dana Kahn and grandchildren Ryanne Zertuche, Rishelle Zertuche, Riley Zertuche, Holyce McKenzie and Tierra Phalan. In 1953 Rose married the love of her life, James Kahn and they settled in San Jose, California where they raised their 3 children. James and Rose were married almost 69 years until James passed away in April of 2022.
Rose began studying the Bible as a teenager and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Rose remained faithful to her dedication for her entire life. Her love for Jehovah moved her to conduct numerous Bible studies, with some of those students becoming her very dearest lifelong friends. Rose’s musical talent were enjoyed by many; she was an accomplished pianist and a beloved piano teacher for over 60 years. She not only played violin in the orchestra at JW conventions back in the day, played piano regularly for the meetings at the Kingdom Hall twice weekly for decades and she also played the piano for hundreds of wedding processions over the years. Rose especially loved her grandchildren, her lap dogs, traveling, gardening, oil painting, sewing and crocheting.
Rose will be deeply missed, but her faith, kindness, laughter, love and generosity will always be an inspiration to us all. May we all share her hope of the resurrection and look forward to welcoming her back in God's new world.
