

Ruben Arellano Gallego Sr., born on July 23,1942 to Carlos & Jennie Gallego, joined our Lord on the morning of May 5, 2026, surrounded by family. Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Arthur, Benny & Robert, his sisters Bertha & Eleanor and his granddaughter Eva-Teresa Renteria, as well as multiple nieces & a nephew.
Survived by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Teresa Gallego, his children Christine (James) Renteria, Ruben Jr. (Cassandra) Gallego, and Jessica (Greg) Gamboa, his beloved grandchildren, DJ (Ashley) & Vanessa Renteria, Danielle, Justina, Ruben III & Nicholas Gallego, Jacinda, Isaiah (Rosa) & Lilleana Gamboa, Jaeden Agustin and his great-grandchildren Xavier, Halo & Baby girl Renteria (due 6/2026), and Baby girl Gamboa (due 10/2026). Also survived by his brothers Daniel & Ernest Gallego, many sisters and brothers in law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren. He is already deeply missed by his loyal granddoggie Lucy Gamboa.
A graduate of San Jose High School, class of 1960. He proudly served in the US Army as a General's Driver. Ruben spent many enjoyable days running and bike riding on the trails of Santa Clara County. He proudly completed the 1st San Jose Marathon. He ran and completed numerous local races. He raced in many wharf-to-wharf runs alongside his lifetime best friend Richard Garcia, in Santa Cruz, CA. He loved golfing, listening to The Blues and joking around with his grandchildren.
Retired in August, 2021 after 57 years with Burke Industries where he developed many close, life-long friendships. Ruben cherished his family and loved attending all of his grandkids' sporting events and band concerts. He was always ready to proudly cheer on his boys and girls. He coached his 1st grandson's little league team where he was affectionately called "Coach Grandpa." He will be remembered as a fun, sarcastic, loving man. We will miss his presence in our lives but know we will all reunite with him one day.
